Latvian Institute of Organic Synthesis

http://www.osi.lv/en/

Latvian Institute of Organic Synthesis is a state research institute specializing in pharmaceutical research, organic chemistry, molecular biology and bioorganic chemistry. Laboratory of Membrane active compounds has long standing expertise in the development of synthetic lipid-like compounds as delivery systems. Their main investigation objectives are polyfunctional pyridinium amphiphiles based on the 1,4-dihydropyridine (1,4-DHP) or pyridine structure and also aliphatic cationic lipids possessing self-assembling properties. These compounds are active as gene delivery systems entering the cells via endocytosis.
